Compared to other traffic zones, roundabouts are exposed to heavy load - especially the so-called inner rings. So far, these zones of roundabouts are normally paved. But this causes more disadvantages than advantages.
Especially transit buses and heavy-duty traffic have an extreme strain on roundabouts. This enormous impact causes heavy wear. However, unlinked pavement constructions of construction class 3-6 can still be used according to RStO - even though they are not sufficient for the occurring load.
It saves time to plan and realize roundabouts with precast parts and further a lot of money. When roundabouts are installed, there are often problems due to shortage of space which make it impossible to redirect running traffic from the construction site. Fast processing is a decisive advantage for all parties.
The new concept by FUCHS has an important benefit concerning construction time: Compared to the conventional construction time, assembly of the single elements can be carried out in just one and a half days. After three days already, the parts - which are laid in a gravel bed – are drivable and their color matches the environment. There is no faster, cheaper and more sustainable way to realize roundabouts.
For locations where space is not sufficient for a roundabout with inner rings and traffic island, specialists by FUCHS have taken their proven construction a step further.
The inner ring is produced space saving in one complete precast part construction. The traversable inner ring is durable, can be quickly installed and is also drivable by transit buses and – if necessary – by heavy-duty traffic. The pavement structure and optical highlighting ensure that the inner ring is avoided by car and motorcycle drivers.
